Four reactionary stories lit up by LEDs. This lecture consists of four performative stories dislocated in the interstices of the wounds of Mexico City. They are designed as an attempt to affectively channel critical standpoints of reactionary social manifestations that redefine territories, social practices, ontological turning points and affective transmutations - as living proposals of expanded realities in the here and now. Homo Emoji
Homo Emoji

Encountering a display of skulls in a natural history museum I imagined them holding a conversation. This made me notice how their morphology and the decay made them portray features that can be associated to facial expression. I created Kamoji out of them. Made me wonder how colour yellow is now related to human expressions of emotion.

Sacred
Sacred

The first emoji were created in 1999 by Japanese artist Shigetaka Kurita, they include a set of 5 kamoji. I consider these a change of paradigm on our ways to express emotions deriving on an almost mechanical transmission. I carved them on stone. Preferably to be placed at sacred archeological sites.

Scrambled E
Scrambled E

Based on the 9 emotions described as the basic of human facial expression by Guillaume Duchenne. I identified these in the emoji-kamoji contemporary keyboard. Then dissmantled each figure and made a new configuration of universal mixed feelings. The re-inscription obscures the utilitarian purpose of the emoji turning it into a code.

Labor de retazos (Patchwork labour)

This patchwork design was created during art show opening with pieces of clothing the artist collected during visits to 8 women who work actively leading independent projects on different fields. Its design and manufacture was coached by fashion designer Alejandra Licona creator of Nereo Brand. Could these women's efforts to build other forms of leading in the arts be the path to cracking the glass ceiling? This power coat is a collection of stories of struggle, emotions, life and empowerment.
